Product Description
Based on the 1960 Academy Award-winning Billy Wilder film The Apartment, PROMISES, PROMISES tells the story of the Consolidated Life Insurance Company and Chuck Baxter (Sean Hayes), one of its charming young employees. In an effort to advance at the company, Chuck lends executives his apartment for their extramarital romantic trysts. But things become slightly complicated when Fran Kubelik (Kristin Chenoweth), the object of Chuck s affection, becomes the mistress of one of his executives.
The hit-packed score for PROMISES, PROMISES was the one and only Broadway foray of Burt Bacharach and Hal David and includes the gems I Say A Little Prayer, A House Is Not A Home, I ll Never Fall In Love Again, Promises, Promises, Knowing When to Leave and Turkey Lurkey Time.
PROMISES, PROMISES has been nominated for four 2010 Tony Awards and stars Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes (TV s Will and Grace), Tony and Emmy Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth (TV s Glee, Wicked on Broadway), Tony Goldwyn (the movie Ghost), Tony Award-winner Katie Finneran (Noises Off on Broadway) and Tony Award-winner Dick Latessa (Hairspray on Broadway).

4 out of 5 stars A Great Revival   August 18, 2010
Reid in Florida (Clermont, FL USA)
I have never seen Promises, Promises but am familiar with the music having heard the pop versions of its songs and the original songs on Sirius XM's On Broadway channel. For the revival, not only have they added two of Burt Bacharach's well-known songs, you also get Kristin Chenoweth's incredible voice. A few songs are not that memorable but all together it's an enjoyable album.

5 out of 5 stars MUST have for any broadway/theater fan or Bachrach fan   August 11, 2010
JMP (Ohio)
This CD is a must have for any theater fan. The people that rated this only one star have obviously never seen the show. This has to be the best sound track and show of 2010 so far.

I was lucky enough to be in NYC on 3/27 and got to see the very first performance. I was amazed at the talent of Sean and Kristin. During intermission and at the end of the show everyone was talking about how good the show was and how great the music was.

Kristin has an amazing voice (as does Sean) and I can't believe Kristin didn't even get nominated for a Tony for best actress. I saw a Little Night Music, and while Catherine Zeta Jones who won the Tony was very good, her performance couldn't even beging to compare to Kristins.

With the composer skills of Burt Bachrach and the talent of Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenowith you can't go wrong with this CD if you are a broadway fan and/or a fan of Burts.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!   August 2, 2010

I absolutely LOVED the play and the soundtrack is obviously just as good! If you enjoyed seeing it then you really should get this CD!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent revival and album   August 1, 2010
A. Marshall (Arlington VA)
I saw the revival and bought the CD - loved both. Chenowith, as ever, is brilliant. She has the look, feel, and sound of the era down pat. Despite the brouhaha over whether Hayes, from Will & Grace, was an appropriate fit for the role.... All I can say is that his negative critics seem to have forgotten the role is not some robust macho character, but a slight, unnoticed, timid, and lonely man. Personally, I found him very good, although I thought "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" could have been performed with a bit more despair (as in the OBC). Overall, however, a solid and complete recording of an excellent show.

4 out of 5 stars Sixties kitch works in the new Century   July 25, 2010
James A. Valentine (Lancaster, pa)
I had a chance to see some of the performances of Kristen Chenoweth and Sean Hayes on the Tony awards and although I was a child when the Play was first on Broadway I thought it would be worth the chance to get the entire cast CD. I was right! Kristen is at full voice and is the Diva I adore. She brings the full emotional scale to each of her songs. Hayes is very capable in this play and I have to admit I was a bit suprized by his singing voice.
All and Backarack/David standard from the decade are still strong from the days when they were played on the FM radio 40 years ago. And I found a habit forming tune that closes out the first act the best suprise of them all. "Turkey Lurkey time" was a bit of a novelty but I found myself humming it at work in spite of myself.
If you like Classic Broadway and Chenoweth, and how doesn't?, Treat yourself to this CD.
