The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require "seasoning." To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. I bought one of these for my dad as a gift a while ago. After hearing him talk about how much he loved cooking with it, I decided to buy one for myself. I do NOT regret it one bit. It cooks everything so nice and evenly. It does takes some getting used to if you are used to cooking with lighter aluminum skillets. I plan on buying several more cast iron pieces. For the price (and quality), you can't beat it.

The title pretty much says it all. Buy one now, you won't regret it. It's probably a good idea to season it yourself before you use it and re-season if it ever feels sticky.

I've been using this skillet for a few months now and it works great. I keep mine pushed to the back of my stovetop. The clean up is easy and I use it for everything. The only downside might be the weight of the cast iron, that is why I keep mine ready to use at all times.

I picked this skillet up as a gift for my fiance and we both just love it! The weekend I gave it to him we were off camping and took it with us... we cooked everything that weekend in it. We use this skillet now more than any other pan in the house.
